The Prospect of Whitby
The Prospect of Whitby is a public house in the East End of London at 57 Wapping Wall, Wapping. It is run by Walter Creeley and is the front for the Challenger Lodge.
Originally built in 1543, it was “The Devil’s Tavern” until it was destroyed by fire in the 18th century and subsequently rebuilt. It overlooks the Thames and holds a bare-knuckle boxing ring where locals can bet on and watch bouts.
